Valentine Umeh is a Nigerian Tenor based in Boston, Massachusetts. Valentine is a third-year undergraduate at the New England Conservatory of Music, where he studies voice and opera under the renowned soprano Jane Eaglen. Last season, Valentine made his debut with the Chautauqua Opera Conservatory, performing the roles of Don Basilio and Don Curzio in Mozart's Le Nozze Di Figaro. Kicking off the 2025-26 season, he returned to the New England Conservatory and performed in a concert series titled “Song and Verse” curated by Brett Hodgdon. He will appear as Serse in Handel’s Serse with the Undergraduate Opera Studio. Also, this spring, Valentine will be collaborating with artist Jonathan Gonzalez alongside the Tufts University Art Galleries in partnership with the African Meeting House in a production called A Suite for Minor Meeting.
Valentine is a member of the Shared Voices Cohort of the Denyce Graves Foundation. He has been featured in numerous concerts with the foundation. Early this year, he was invited by the National Opera Association to honour Denyce Graves in Boston, Massachusetts.
Valentine looks forward to developing a career through his love for musical and artistic expression. He particularly enjoys connecting with audiences through the transformative power of music.
